(وَعَنْهَا مِنْ طَرِيقٍ آخَرَ) إِنَّهَا قَالَتْ: اسْتَفْتَتْ أُمُّ حَبِيبَةَ بِنْتُ جَحْشٍ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَتْ: إِنِّي أُسْتَحَاضُ، قَالَ: ((إِنَّمَا ذَاكَ عِرْقٌ فَاغْتَسِلِي ثُمَّ صَلِّي)) فَكَانَتْ تَغْتَسِلُ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ، قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ: لَمْ يَأْمُرْهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ تَغْتَسِلَ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ، إِنَّمَا فَعَلَتْهُ هِيَ
(Second chain) She says: Sayyida Umm Habibah bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her) asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) for a legal ruling and said: I experience the blood of istihada (non-menstrual bleeding). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: This is an issue of a vein, so perform ghusl and pray. So this woman used to perform ghusl for every prayer. Ibn Shihab said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not command her to perform ghusl for every prayer; she did this herself.
