Hadith 9724

Narrated by Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever walks arrogantly with pride, will meet Allah in such a state that He will be angry with him.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … These ahadith indicate the reality that it is extremely necessary to avoid self-admiration, vanity, self-conceit, arrogance, walking with pride, considering oneself superior, and falling into haughtiness on account of fine clothing, beauty and elegance, strength and energy, stature, or other abilities. Rather, keeping in view the humanity deprived of these favors, one should express gratitude to Allah Ta’ala for these blessings. Lest it happen that Allah Ta’ala, in order to fulfill our worldly needs in the best manner, showers His favors upon us, but due to the crookedness of our hearts and minds, those very blessings become, instead of a means of self-protection, a calamity for us, and instead of mercy, a source of hardship.

Honored readers! Reflect that in our Shari‘ah, encouragement has been given to wear good clothing and to comb the hair, but for this person, these very acts became a cause of Allah’s wrath, because there was crookedness in his mind.
