Hadith 971

It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (RA) that Sayyida Umm Habiba bint Jahsh (RA), who was the wife of Sayyida Abdur Rahman bin Auf (RA), experienced so much bleeding due to istihada that she would not become pure. When her case was presented before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: This is not menstruation; rather, a vein in the womb has been struck. The woman should leave prayer for as many days as her menstruation used to last, and then see how many days (of purity) remain after that. During those days, she should perform ghusl for every prayer and offer it.
