Brief Explanation
Benefits: … By "Jahmiyyah" is meant the followers of Jahm ibn Safwan. One of their doctrines was that a human being has no power over anything, nor is he characterized by capability; rather, in his words and actions, he is compelled before predestination (qadar), and in this matter, he has no personal choice whatsoever.
The Jahmiyyah consider man to be utterly compelled. If a person is utterly compelled, then neither can he be praised, nor is there any benefit in giving him glad tidings of Paradise. Whereas, in the hadith, there is mention of the promise of Paradise from Allah. Therefore, this hadith is in strong opposition to their doctrine of compulsion (jabr). (Abdullah Rafiq)
