Hadith 9660

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قِيلَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَا تَغَارُ قَالَ ((وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لَأَغَارُ وَاللَّهُ أَغْيَرُ مِنِّي وَمِنْ غَيْرَتِهِ نَهَى عَنِ الْفَوَاحِشِ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that someone said to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): "Do you not have a sense of honor (ghayrah)?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "By Allah! Indeed, I have a sense of honor, and Allah is more possessive of honor than I am. And it is due to His sense of honor that He has forbidden indecent acts and immoralities."
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The demand of Allah Ta'ala's ghayrah (protective jealousy) is that we abstain from those matters which He has forbidden, and act upon the obligatory (fara'id) and recommended (mustahabbat) deeds.
