Abu Zhabiyah says: Shurahbil bin Simt called Sayyiduna Amr bin Abasah Salami (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: O son of Abasah! Can you narrate such a hadith which you yourself have heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and in which there is no addition or mixture of falsehood, and you have not narrated that hadith from any other person who heard it? He said: Yes, I myself heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Allah Almighty said: Surely, My love is established for those who love each other for My sake; My love is established for those who maintain pure relations with each other for My sake; My love is established for those who visit and meet each other for My sake; My love is established for those who spend for My sake; and My love is established for those who help each other for My sake. Then Sayyiduna Amr bin Abasah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever shoots an arrow in the way of Allah, whether it hits the target or not, he will get the reward of freeing a slave from the descendants of Ismail (peace be upon him); whoever grows old in the way of Allah, this act will be a light for him; whichever Muslim frees a Muslim slave, for every limb of the freed one, a limb of the liberator will be freed from the Fire; whichever Muslim woman frees a Muslim woman, for every limb of the freed woman, a limb of the liberator will be freed from Hell; whichever Muslim man or woman has sent ahead (i.e., lost) three minor children from their offspring, they will become a shield for him against the Fire (i.e., he will not enter Hell); whoever gets up to perform ablution with the intention of prayer and lets the water reach its place, he will be purified from every sin or mistake. Now, if he performs the prayer, Allah Almighty will raise his rank, and if he just sits, he will sit purified (from sins). Shurahbil, for confirmation, said: O son of Abasah! Did you yourself hear this hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? He said: Yes, by Him besides whom there is no deity, if I had heard this hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) once or twice or three or four or five or six or seven or eight or nine times, I would not swear an oath, meaning I would not care about narrating it to anyone; by Allah! The fact is that I do not remember the number of times I heard this hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
