عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ زُفَرَ عَنْ بَعْضِ بَنِي رَافِعِ بْنِ مَكِيثٍ وَكَانَ مِمَّنْ شَهِدَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ ((حُسْنُ الْخُلُقِ نَمَاءٌ وَسُوءُ الْخُلُقِ شُؤْمٌ وَالْبِرُّ زِيَادَةٌ فِي الْعُمُرِ وَالصَّدَقَةُ تَمْنَعُ مِيتَةَ السَّوْءِ))
It is narrated from a son of Rafi’ bin Makith, who was also present at Hudaybiyyah, that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Good character is increase and growth, bad character is misfortune, virtue increases lifespan, and charity saves from an evil death.
