It is narrated from Mutarrif bin Abdullah, he says: When a hadith reached me from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him), I began to desire to meet him. Then I met him and said: O Abu Dharr! A hadith has reached me from you and I wished to meet you and ask about it. He said: Now that we have met, ask. I said: Yes, I have heard that you narrate that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty loves three persons and dislikes three persons. He said: Yes, and I do not think about myself that I would lie upon my beloved Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). He repeated this three times. I said: Well, who are the three persons whom Allah Almighty loves? He said: The man who fought in the way of Allah, then he confronted the enemy and fought seeking reward, until he was martyred. And you recite this verse in the Book of Allah: Surely Allah loves those who fight in His way in ranks. And the man whose neighbor causes him harm, but he patiently endures it seeking reward, until Allah suffices him with death or life. And the man who travels with a group of people, until sleep or drowsiness overcomes them and they camp at a place in the last part of the night, but that man gets up for ablution and prayer, and keeps praying until he wakes them up to depart from there. I said: Who are the three persons whom Allah Almighty dislikes? He said: The boastful, arrogant one. You read in the Noble Qur’an that surely Allah does not like the arrogant, boastful. And the one who reminds of his favors, the miser, and the trader who swears excessively to sell his goods. I said: O Abu Dharr! What is meant by wealth? He said: Our goats and camels. I said: I am not asking about this, I am asking you about gold and silver from wealth. He said: It did not see the morning nor the evening, and it did not see the evening nor the morning. I said: O Abu Dharr! What has happened to you and your Qurayshi brothers? He said: By Allah! I neither ask them about the world nor do I ask them anything about the religion of Allah, until I meet Allah Almighty. He said this three times.
