عَنِ الْمُنْذِرِ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا مِنْ قَوْمٍ يَعْمَلُونَ بِالْمَعَاصِي وَفِيهِمْ رَجُلٌ أَعَزُّ مِنْهُمْ وَأَمْنَعُ لَا يُغَيِّرُونَ إِلَّا عَمَّهُمُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِعِقَابٍ أَوْ قَالَ أَصَابَهُمُ الْعِقَابُ
Narrated from Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When people are committing disobedience, and among them there is a person who is the most honorable and it is possible for him to stop them from that evil, but he does not stop them, then Allah Almighty sends a general punishment upon such people.

Benefits: … The greatest responsibility of the heads of families is that they bring those under their care closer to goodness and keep them away from evil, whereas those responsible for fulfilling this duty have become rare.
