Umm Mabudh says: I was with Sayyida Maymunah (RA), when Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (RA) came to her. She asked him: My son! What is the reason that your hair is disheveled? He said: Umm Ammar used to comb my hair and she is currently menstruating. The lady said: O my son! What does menstruation have to do with the hand? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would come to any of us while she was menstruating, but he (peace and blessings be upon him) would place his head in her lap and recite the Holy Qur’an. Similarly, she would stand and spread your mat for you in the mosque while she was menstruating. My son! What does menstruation have to do with the hand?
