Hadith 9489

A companion of the Messenger narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade a person from sitting in such a way that part of his body is in the sun and part in the shade, and said: This is the sitting of Satan.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The commentator of Abu Dawud, Allamah Azimabadi rahimahullah, writes: When sunlight falls on some parts of a person and shade on other parts, he should stand up from there and sit either completely in the shade or completely in the sunlight, because if he remains sitting there, it will cause corruption in his temperament, as his body will be surrounded by two opposing things like sunlight and shade. However, it is more appropriate that the reason which the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam has stated for prohibiting this manner of sitting—that it is the sitting place of Shaytan—should suffice, and one should be content with that.
