Abdur Rahman bin Abi Amrah Ansari says: It was mentioned to Sayyiduna Abu Saeed (may Allah be pleased with him) about a funeral. He returned from it and then stayed so far behind from the gathering that people had already sat in their respective places. When people saw him coming, they dispersed, and some people said that he should sit in that gathering, but he said: No, indeed, I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Verily, the best gathering is the one which is spacious. Then he separated himself and sat in a spacious gathering.
