Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a Bedouin was suffering from fever. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to visit him and said: "It is an expiation and a purifier." But the Bedouin said: "No, rather it is a fever that is boiling over an old man and showing him the graves." Upon hearing this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up and left him.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam disliked this Bedouin’s impatience and his displeasure with the decree of Allah Ta’ala, and so he left. It is understood from this that one should recite this supplication in the presence of a sick person: "Kaffaratun wa tuhoorun" (This illness is an expiation for sins and a means of purification).
