عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ((عَائِدُ الْمَرِيضِ يَخُوضُ فِي الرَّحْمَةِ وَوَضَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدَهُ عَلَى وَرِكِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ هَكَذَا مُقْبِلًا وَمُدْبِرًا وَإِذَا جَلَسَ عِنْدَهُ غَمَرَتْهُ الرَّحْمَةُ))
Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The one who visits a sick person enters into mercy. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his hand on his buttocks and said: Both when coming and when going. Then, when he sits by him, mercy covers him.

Benefits: … It is necessary that we, without concern for the distinction between the lowly and the eminent or for personal acquaintance, visit our Muslim brother considering it his right.
