Hadith 9452

وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا يَرْفَعُهُ قَالَ لَا تَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ حَتَّى تُؤْمِنُوا وَلَا تُؤْمِنُوا حَتَّى تَحَابُّوا أَلَا أَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَى رَأْسِ ذَلِكَ أَوْ مَلَاكِ ذَلِكَ أَفْشُوا السَّلَامَ بَيْنَكُمْ (وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ) أَلَا أَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَى شَيْءٍ إِذَا فَعَلْتُمُوهُ تَحَابَبْتُمْ أَفْشُوا السَّلَامَ بَيْنَكُمْ
Syedna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You will not enter Paradise until you have faith, and you will not have faith until you love one another. Shall I not guide you to something which is the root and essence of this love? Spread salam (greetings of peace) among yourselves. In another narration: Shall I not guide you to something that if you do it, you will begin to love one another? Spread salam among yourselves.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Through greeting (salam), mutual and Shari‘ah-based love and openness of heart towards others are developed; therefore, this Prophetic prescription should be utilized abundantly. It is generally observed that people are very negligent in offering salam.
