Hadith 9449

Syedna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Souls are like gathered armies; those who became acquainted with one another there, become familiar with each other here, and those among them who became strangers and unfamiliar there, do not become familiar here.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … There is an astonishing difference found in human temperaments. One person is ready to sacrifice his life and wealth for another, while another is not even willing to speak kindly to him. Some people find their wives and children so dear that they wish to spend all their time with them, while there are also those whose entire time is spent outside the home among friends and companions. In short, every person’s inclination and tendency is different from another’s, and almost everyone criticizes the temperament of others. In reality, in the realm of souls (‘alam al-arwah), the forms and manifestations of agreement and disagreement, and of affection and aversion, have already been established; worldly life merely serves as their manifestation.
