It is narrated from Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Indeed, a servant seeks the pleasure of Allah Almighty and strives for it, until Allah Almighty says to Jibreel (peace be upon him): Verily, My such-and-such servant was seeking to please Me; beware! Now My mercy has been bestowed upon him. Jibreel (peace be upon him) says: Allah Almighty’s mercy has been bestowed upon such-and-such person. Then the bearers of the Throne repeat this statement, then the angels around them say it, until those in all seven heavens say the same phrase. Then this statement is sent down to the earth.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … When a person becomes accepted by Allah Ta’ala through his righteous deeds, his acceptance becomes widespread in the heavens and the earth.
From this blessed hadith, it is established that there should be sincerity (ikhlas) in one’s actions, and the purpose of the action should not be ostentation (riya) or seeking fame and display. If the intention is otherwise, then it is possible that temporary acceptance may be attained, but in the end, there will be nothing except reproach.
