عَنْ زُهْرَةَ بْنِ مَعْبَدٍ عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ آخِذٌ بِيَدِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ فَقَالَ وَاللَّهِ أَنْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ إِلَّا نَفْسِي فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ((لَا يُؤْمِنُ أَحَدُكُمْ حَتَّى أَكُونَ عِنْدَهُ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ نَفْسِهِ)) فَقَالَ عُمَرُ فَلَأَنْتَ الْآنَ وَاللَّهِ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ نَفْسِي فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ((الْآنَ يَا عُمَرُ))
It is narrated from Zahra’s grandfather, he says: We were with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) was holding the hand of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). He (Umar) said: O Messenger of Allah! You are more beloved to me than everything except my own self. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: None of you can be a believer until I am more beloved to him than his own self. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: By Allah! Now you are more beloved to me than my own self. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Umar! Now it is right.
