بَابُ التَّرْغِيْبِ فِي الصَّبْرِ عَلَى مَوْتِ الْأَوْلَادِ وثَوَابِ ذَلِكَChapter on encouragement to patience over the death of children and its reward
Hadith 9393

وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَنْ مَاتَ لَهُ ثَلَاثَةٌ (زَادَ فِي رِوَايَةٍ مِنَ الْوَلَدِ) لَمْ يَبْلُغُوا الْحِنْثَ لَمْ تَمَسَّهُ النَّارُ إِلَّا تَحِلَّةَ الْقَسَمِ يَعْنِي الْوُرُودَ
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever has three minor children who pass away, the Fire will not touch him, except for fulfilling an oath. Fulfilling an oath here means passing by it.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The fulfillment of the oath refers to the statement of Allah, the Exalted: {وَ إِنْ مِنْکُمْ إِلاَّ وَارِدُھَا کَانَ عَلٰی رَبِّکَ حَتْمًا مَّقْضِیًّا۔} … "Every one of you will surely pass over it; this is, with your Lord, a decree that must be accomplished." (Surah Maryam: 71)
Its explanation has been stated in authentic ahadith in this manner: a bridge will be placed over Hell (Jahannam), over which every believer and disbeliever will have to pass. Some believers will cross quickly or slowly, some will fall into Hell, then they will be taken out through intercession or after serving the punishment for their sins. As for the disbelievers and polytheists, they will not be able to cross this bridge and will fall into Hell forever and ever.
