عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَقَدْ أُوذِيتُ فِي اللَّهِ تَعَالَى وَمَا يُؤْذَى أَحَدٌ وَأُخِفْتُ فِي اللَّهِ وَمَا يُخَافُ أَحَدٌ وَلَقَدْ أَتَتْ عَلَيَّ ثَلَاثَةٌ (وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ ثَلَاثُونَ) مِنْ بَيْنِ يَوْمٍ وَلَيْلَةٍ وَمَا لِي وَلِعِيَالِي طَعَامٌ يَأْكُلُهُ ذُو كَبِدٍ إِلَّا مَا يُوَارِي إِبْطُ بِلَالٍ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: I was harmed for the sake of Allah and no one was harmed as much as I was harmed, and I was frightened for the sake of Allah and no one was frightened as much as I was frightened, and there came upon me such three days that a whole day and night would pass while there was nothing with me and my family that a living being could eat, except for what Bilal would hide under his armpit and bring.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In particular, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was targeted in order to cause him distress, because he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would prohibit people from idol worship and would invite them to worship Allah Ta'ala alone. Some would threaten to kill him, some would socially boycott him, and some would warn him of various punishments.
