Hadith 9341

(وَمِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ) عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ قَالَ جَاءَهُ ابْنُهُ عَامِرٌ فَقَالَ أَيْ بُنَيَّ أَفِي الْفِتْنَةِ تَأْمُرُنِي أَنْ أَكُونَ رَأْسًا لَا وَاللَّهِ حَتَّى أُعْطَى سَيْفًا إِنْ ضَرَبْتُ بِهِ مُؤْمِنًا انْبَاعَ عَنْهُ وَإِنْ ضَرَبْتُ بِهِ كَافِرًا قَتَلَهُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يُحِبُّ الْغَنِيَّ الْخَفِيَّ التَّقِيَّ
(Second chain) It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) that his son came to him and he said to him: O my beloved son! Do you command me to become the leader of turmoil? No, by Allah! No, not until I am given such a sword that if I strike a believer with it, it turns away from him, and if I strike a disbeliever with it, it kills him. I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Indeed, Allah Almighty loves the rich, unknown, and pious servant.
