It is narrated from Amir bin Sa’d that his brother Umar went to their father, Sayyiduna Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him), while he was outside Madinah Munawwarah among his goats. When he saw him, he said: I seek Allah’s protection from this rider. When he came, he said: Father! Are you content to become a Bedouin among your goats, while people are fighting over kingship in Madinah Munawwarah? Sayyiduna Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) struck Umar’s chest with his hand and said: Be quiet! Indeed, I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Indeed, Allah loves the servant who is pious, self-sufficient, and unknown.
