Hadith 9336

عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَلَيَّ شَمْلَةٌ أَوْ شَمْلَتَانِ (وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ فَرَآنِي رَثَّ الْهَيْئَةِ) فَقَالَ لِي هَلْ لَكَ مِنْ مَالٍ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَدْ آتَانِيَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مِنْ كُلِّ مَالِهِ مِنْ خَيْلِهِ وَإِبِلِهِ وَغَنَمِهِ وَرَقِيقِهِ فَقَالَ فَإِذَا آتَاكَ اللَّهُ مَالًا فَلْيَرَ عَلَيْكَ نِعْمَتَهُ (وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ فَلْيَرَ أَثَرَ نِعْمَتِهِ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكَ) فَرُحْتُ إِلَيْهِ فِي حُلَّةٍ (وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ فَغَدَوْتُ إِلَيْهِ فِي حُلَّةٍ حَمْرَاءَ)
It is narrated from the father of Abu Al-Ahwas, he says: I came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and I was wearing one or two sheets. In one narration it is stated: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, saw me in a disheveled state and then asked: Do you have wealth? I said: Yes, Allah Almighty has given me horses, camels, sheep, goats, and slaves, all kinds of wealth. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: If Allah Almighty has granted you wealth, then its blessing should be visible on you. Then, when I went to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, I was wearing a red garment.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam forbade pure and intensely red (clothing), therefore, what is meant by the red color of this garment is a light red, or that in which there is a mixture of another color as well.
