It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Indeed, the poor among the emigrants will precede the wealthy people by forty years on the Day of Resurrection. Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: If you wish, we can give you from our wealth, and if you wish, we can mention your case before the ruler. They said: We will be patient and will not ask anyone for anything.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In the detailed narration of Sahih Muslim, it is stated:
Abu Abdur Rahman says: “Three men came to Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As while I was with him. They said, ‘O Abu Muhammad! By Allah, we possess nothing—not any provision, nor any riding animal, nor any goods or belongings.’ Abdullah said to them, ‘What do you wish? If you wish, you may return to us and we will give you whatever Allah has made easy for you. And if you wish, we will mention your matter to the ruler. And if you wish, you may be patient, for I heard the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) say: Indeed, the poor among the Muhajirun will precede the wealthy on the Day of Resurrection to Paradise by forty years.’ They said, ‘We will be patient and will not ask for anything.’” … Three men came to Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As (radi Allahu anhu); I was also present with him. They said: O Abu Muhammad! By Allah, we have nothing—not any expenditure, nor any riding animal, nor any wealth or belongings. Sayyiduna Abdullah said to these three men: What do you want? If you wish, you may return to us and we will give you what Allah the Exalted has decreed for you in your destiny. And if you wish, we will mention your case to the king. And if you wish, you may be patient, for I heard the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) say: The poor among the Muhajirun will enter Paradise forty years before the wealthy on the Day of Resurrection. These Companions said: We will be patient and will not ask for anything.
