Sayyiduna Abu Sa‘id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Indeed, Prophet Musa (peace be upon him) said: “O my Lord! You make Your believing servant poor and destitute in the world?” At that moment, a door of Paradise was opened for Musa (peace be upon him) and he began to look towards it. Then Allah Almighty said: “O Musa! This Paradise I have prepared for that very believer.” Then Musa (peace be upon him) said: “O my Lord! By Your honor! By Your majesty! If both hands and both feet of this believer were cut off, and he were dragged on his face from the day of his birth until the Day of Resurrection, but if his end is this Paradise, then he would think that he never saw any hardship at all.” Then Musa (peace be upon him) said: “O my Lord! You have created great abundance in the world for Your disbelieving servant?” At that moment, a door towards Hell was opened for Musa (peace be upon him) and it was said to him: “O Musa! This Hell I have prepared for that very disbeliever.” Musa (peace be upon him) said: “O my Lord! By Your honor and majesty! If he were given the whole world from the day of his creation until the Day of Resurrection, but if his end is this, then he would think that he never saw any good at all.”

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … This hadith is weak, but in terms of the outcome, the believer and the disbeliever will indeed have the same thoughts as described in this hadith, as is evident from the following hadith:

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik radi Allahu anhu that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “The person who had the most luxurious life in this world among the people of the Fire will be brought on the Day of Resurrection and will be dipped once in the Fire. Then it will be said to him: ‘O son of Adam! Did you ever see any good? Did any blessing ever come to you?’ He will say: ‘No, by Allah, O my Lord!’ Then the person who had the most miserable life among the people of Paradise in this world will be brought and will be dipped once in Paradise. Then it will be said to him: ‘O son of Adam! Did you ever see any misery? Did any hardship ever come to you?’ He will say: ‘No, by Allah, O my Lord! No misery ever came to me, nor did I ever see any hardship.’” (Sahih Muslim: 5021)

May Allah Ta’ala grant us tranquility in this world and the Hereafter. (Ameen)
