Hadith 9272

(The second chain) The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: O Abu Dharr! What mountain is this? I said: It is the mountain of Uhud, O Messenger of Allah! He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: If (this mountain) were to be turned into gold coins for me, I would spend it in the way of Allah, and it would not please me that even a single qirat from it remains. I said: O Messenger of Allah! A qintar? He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Qirat, qirat. He said it three times, then said: O Abu Dharr! I am talking about the lesser amount, not the greater.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Qirat = (255.1) milligrams
It has two meanings: (1) abundant wealth, (2) a unit of weight which varies in different countries. In Egypt, a qirat is equal to (100) ratl, and a ratl is equal to (393.660) grams. In this way, one qirat amounts to more than (39) kilograms in weight. The zeal of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) for spending in the way of Allah was such that he (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) was characterized by the attribute of generosity to the highest degree. He (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) not only expressed this desire but also practically demonstrated this attribute. Reflect that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) is emphasizing this point to Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (radi Allahu anhu) only because he understood qirat to mean qintar, whose amount is greater.
