Hadith 9264

Sayyiduna Abu Sa’id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that an Ansari man had a need. His family said to him: Go to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and ask him. So he went to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was addressing (the people) and saying: Whoever adopts chastity, Allah will make him chaste, and whoever seeks self-sufficiency, Allah will make him self-sufficient, and whoever asks from us and we have something, we will give it to him. Hearing this hadith, the man left and did not ask for anything.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Along with organizing acts of worship, a Muslim should make every effort to earn his own livelihood and manage his affairs himself, and should not ask from anyone. If the income is low, he should attain contentment and satisfaction through self-restraint (qana‘ah) and gratitude (shukr), and strive to improve his circumstances, but while fulfilling the limits set by the Shari‘ah.
