Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Allah Ta'ala is the true benefactor (muhsin) and the person who does good to others is a metaphorical benefactor. Since Allah Ta'ala makes him a means for doing good, therefore, thanks should be given to both the true benefactor and the metaphorical benefactor.
The source of all blessings and the real bestower (mun’im) is Allah Ta'ala; He is deserving that thanks be given to Him at all times and for every blessing. This is why in the supplications after eating and drinking, in the supplications upon sleeping and waking, in the supplications when mounting a ride, etc., praise of Allah Ta'ala has been mentioned.
At times, a person receives a blessing directly from Allah Ta'ala, but sometimes the Exalted Lord uses His servants themselves as a means to bestow blessings upon His servants—such as those people who become a means for our sustenance, who give us charity and alms, who grant us gifts and presents, who invite us, and so on. In such cases, it is also necessary to thank the people.
