Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Shall I not inform you of a rank superior to prayer, fasting, and charity? The people said: Yes, indeed. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Reconciling relations among kin, and causing discord in relationships is something that shaves (the religion).

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The people of Islam are brothers to one another. Due to human errors, sometimes this bond of brotherhood becomes affected, which results in corruption and disorder spreading throughout the entire Muslim society. Therefore, reconciling (making peace) has been considered a great charity (sadaqah), which some Muslims perform for the sake of other Muslims. Allah, the Exalted, has stated: {وَاِنْطَائِفَتَانِمِنَالْمُؤْمِنِیْنَاقْتَتَلُوْافَاَصْلِحُوْابَیْنَھُمَا} (Surah al-Hujurat: 9) … If two groups among the Muslims fight each other, then make peace between them. During the Prophetic era, there was a dispute among the descendants of ‘Amr ibn ‘Awf, and in order to reconcile between them, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) himself went, taking some companions with him. (Bukhari, Muslim) It is thus understood that when some Muslims quarrel, other people will be responsible for reconciling between them.
