Hadith 9139

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: We were sitting with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when a beggar asked a question. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Intercede, you will be rewarded, and Allah Almighty decrees what He wills through the tongue of His Prophet.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The jurisprudence (fiqh) of this blessed hadith is that one should intercede (make a recommendation) to fulfill the legitimate need of a needy person. If the intercession is accepted, then very good; otherwise, the reward for making the intercession will still be granted.

The meaning of the second part is that whatever Allah, the Exalted, wills regarding granting or not granting, He will manifest it through revelation (wahy) or inspiration (ilham) upon the tongue of His Prophet.

The command of Allah, the Exalted, is: {مَنْ یَّشْفَعْ شَفَاعَۃً حَسَنَۃًیَّکُنْ لَّہ نَصِیْبٌ مِّنْھَا وَمَنْ یَّشْفَعْ شَفَاعَۃً سَیِّئَۃًیَّکُنْ لَّہ کِفْلٌ مِّنْھَا وَکَانَ اللّٰہُ عَلٰی کُلِّ شَیْء ٍ مُّقِیْتًا۔} … Whoever intercedes with a good intercession, there will be for him a share of it; and whoever intercedes with an evil intercession, there will be for him a portion of its burden. And Allah is, over all things, an Observer. (Surah an-Nisa: 85)
