Hadith 9121

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A servant cannot be a believer until he desires for his brother the good and well-being that he desires for himself.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Generally, the words of this blessed hadith are narrated as follows: ((None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.)) And these words are also established. In this hadith, the addition of the words "min al-khayr" clarifies the meaning and concept of the hadith. The word "al-khayr" possesses great comprehensiveness; this word encompasses the observance of the rulings of the Shari‘ah and includes both worldly and hereafter-related permissible matters, while excluding those matters prohibited by the Shari‘ah. That is, the perfect character of a Muslim demands that whatever worldly good and benefit, and whatever hereafter-related good and virtue he likes for himself, he should also like for his Muslim brother, and whatever evil thing he dislikes for himself, he should also dislike it for his brother.
