Abu Uthman Nahdi says: I stayed as a guest of Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) for seven days. I heard him say: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) distributed dates among his companions. My share was seven dates, among which there was one inferior date, yet that was the one I liked the most. I had to chew it with great effort.
