عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلَا يُؤْذِ جَارَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَسْكُتْ
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should honor his guest; whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not harm his neighbor; and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should speak good or remain silent.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In today’s self-serving and opportunistic era, the rights of neighbors have been relegated to the background; far from fulfilling their rights, their very identification is not even acknowledged. In one corner of the street, there is a gathering of mourning, while in the other corner, wedding ceremonies are in full swing. Whereas, belief in Allah and the Last Day demands that no harm whatsoever should be caused to the neighbor.
