Sayyiduna Suraqah bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: O Suraqah! Shall I not guide you to the greatest charity? He said: Why not, O Messenger of Allah! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Your daughter who is returned to you and has no one to provide for her except you.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … "Your daughter who is returned to you." This refers to a daughter who, due to being divorced or widowed, comes back to live in her father's house. Generally, the responsibility of supporting such daughters is considered a burden. But beware! Becoming the support for such a helpless daughter or sister is a matter of great fortune. I am reminded of a compassionate brother who said to his distressed sister: "Sister! For the sake of supporting you and your child, I will not get married." How loving is this manner; how much comfort his sister must have felt.
