Hadith 9017

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The most virtuous dinar is the one which a servant spends on his children, and it is the dinar which a man spends on his riding animal in the way of Allah. Then Abu Qilabah, while speaking about treating children well, said from himself: And who can be greater in reward and recompense than the person who spends on his small children, and thus Allah Almighty keeps them chaste through him.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Whoever is unable to earn a livelihood, supporting him is a great virtue, especially if that individual is of a young age and, moreover, is one’s own child. Fulfilling his needs will be a source of felicity for the parents. Therefore, parents should fulfill the needs of their children with the intention of reward and recompense, but they should avoid extravagance and also be mindful of other needy children.
