Sayyiduna Iyad bin Murthad or Murthad bin Iyad (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from a servant of his family that he asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! Tell me about an action that will admit me into Paradise. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Are either of your parents alive? He said: No. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then give water (to people). He said: How should I give water? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When people are present, suffice them regarding the means of water, and if they are absent, then pick it up and take it to them.
