عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ جَاهِمَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَرَدْتُ الْغَزْوَ وَجِئْتُكَ أَسْتَشِيرُكَ فَقَالَ هَلْ لَكَ مِنْ أُمٍّ قَالَ نَعَمْ فَقَالَ الْزَمْهَا فَإِنَّ الْجَنَّةَ عِنْدَ رِجْلِهَا ثُمَّ الثَّانِيَةَ ثُمَّ الثَّالِثَةَ فِي مَقَاعِدَ شَتَّى كَمِثْلِ هَذَا الْقَوْلِ
Sayyiduna Muawiyah bin Jahimah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! I want to perform jihad with you and I have come to consult you. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Is your mother alive? He replied: Yes. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then stay with her, for Paradise is at her feet. The narrator then related this hadith in the same way in a second and third gathering.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In showing kindness to one’s mother and serving her, become like the dust trampled beneath her feet; that is, consider your mother’s lawful wish as superior to the wishes of other creatures, and fulfill her wish first.
