It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: Sayyida Khawla bint Hakim (may Allah be pleased with her) came to me; she was the wife of Sayyiduna Uthman bin Maz'oon (may Allah be pleased with him). When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw her disheveled state, he said: "Aisha! What has made Khawla's condition so bad?" I said: "O Messenger of Allah! This woman has no husband." The detail of the matter is that her husband fasts during the day and prays at night (and pays no attention to his wife), so she has become as if she has no husband at all; thus, she has neglected herself and wasted herself. Upon hearing this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called Sayyiduna Uthman bin Maz'oon (may Allah be pleased with him). When he came, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Uthman! Are you turning away from my Sunnah?" He said: "No, by Allah, O Messenger of Allah! Rather, I seek your Sunnah." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, I sleep and I pray, I fast and I break my fast, and I marry women. O Uthman! Fear Allah, for indeed your family has a right over you, so fast and break your fast, pray and also sleep."

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … It is necessary that all the acts of worship and dealings of the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam be kept in view. On one hand, when organizing a military expedition, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is encouraging participation in jihad; on the other hand, he is seen instructing someone eager to join the expedition to instead serve his elderly parents rather than participate in jihad. Believe that the greatest challenge in this world is how a person is to practice the complete religion (din-e-kamil) in his life: fulfilling the rights of Allah’s worship, the requirements of Hajj and Umrah, participation in jihad, the rights of parents, the rights of wife and children, the rights of neighbors, striving for livelihood, dedicating time and expense for hosting guests, matters of funerals and weddings, etc.
One day, a fairly religious and observant man became so occupied with his brother’s wedding feast (walimah) that he missed the Asr prayer. Another day, a regular worshipper was absent from one prayer; when asked the reason, he said that guests had come. In reality, these people are afflicted with excess and negligence and are devoid of understanding the true spirit of Islam. Our lives have passed by, and we have not been able to establish our Islamic schedule; the only success was in holding a walimah, which became the cause for many people missing the Asr prayer. The guests because of whom prayers are affected—are they truly guests, or are they from Satan? Does the Sunnah of walimah and hospitality demand that, by neglecting prayer, one rebels against Allah ta‘ala?
