It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would command the companions to perform an action, he would only command as much as they were able to bear. But when they would say, "O Messenger of Allah! Indeed, we are not like you; Allah Almighty has forgiven your past and future sins," upon hearing this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would become angry, to the extent that the signs of anger would become visible on his blessed face.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … An example has already been mentioned in the first hadith of this chapter.
Dear readers! Extreme seriousness is required in matters of religion. It does not befit this religion that, whenever one feels inclined, one performs great acts of reward and virtue, and when not inclined, one adopts indifference. Along with seriousness, great wisdom and prudence are also necessary. In this regard, the imams and preachers of mosques bear significant responsibilities. It is requested of them that they understand their position and keep an eye on every individual living around them, and never let any opportunity for guidance according to each person's ability go to waste. At times, it may happen that a person wishes to perform a great act of obedience, but, considering the circumstances and events, people of knowledge should act with wisdom and insight and ponder whether it is better to prevent that person from that act or not, just as the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam did not permit some of the companions to perform certain righteous deeds.
