Hadith 8889

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When Allah Almighty sends punishment upon a people, then whoever is among them, all are afflicted by that punishment; then they will be resurrected according to their deeds.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In reality, these ahadith allude to this verse: { وَاتَّقُوْا فِتْنَۃً لَّا تُصِیْبَنَّ الَّذِیْنَ ظَلَمُوْا مِنْکُمْ خَاصَّۃً} … "And beware of a trial which will not only afflict those among you who have done wrong." (Surah Al-Anfal: 25) The meaning of these texts is that when the obedient people remain among the disobedient until the punishment descends, then they cannot be saved from the coming punishment. However, if they leave before the punishment arrives, then they will be saved. This is just as, in previous times, those who believed in the earlier prophets would, by the light of Allah’s revelation, depart with their prophets before the punishment came. And Allah knows best.
