It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Whoever, during the ritual bath of janabah, leaves an area equal to a single hair such that water does not reach it, Allah the Exalted will deal with him with the fire of Hell in such and such a manner. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: This is the reason I have enmity with my hair, as you can see.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … From the aforementioned referencing and verification of the hadith, it is understood that this is the statement of Sayyiduna Ali radi Allahu anhu: Whoever, during the ritual bath (ghusl) for major impurity (janabah), leaves an area the size of a single hair such that water does not reach it, Allah the Exalted will deal with him with the fire of Hell in such and such a manner. However, this should be given the ruling of being marfu‘ (attributed to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), because such a statement cannot be made based on opinion or personal reasoning (ijtihad). Along with this, there are the following two marfu‘ narrations as well, even though there is weakness in them, which has already been mentioned, but if all of these are combined together, it becomes apparent that there is some basis for the issue.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub al-Ansari radi Allahu anhu that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “… for indeed, under every hair is [a state of] major impurity (janabah).” (Ibn Majah: 598, this is munqati‘ [disconnected], as Talhah ibn Nafi‘ did not hear from Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub radi Allahu anhu)
