Hadith 8857

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) or from some Ansari companion that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Whoever recites Surah {قُلْ ھُوَ اللّٰہُ اَحَدٌ }, it is as if he has recited one third of the Holy Qur'an.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Surah Al-Ikhlas {قُلْ ھُوَاللّٰہُ اَحَدٌ} is equal to one third of the Noble Qur’an. The best explanation of this hadith is as follows:
The Noble Qur’an comprises three fundamental objectives:
(1) Commands and prohibitions: The practical rulings of Allah Ta’ala, in which obligations (wajibat), recommended acts (mustahabbat), prohibitions (muharramat), and disliked acts (makruhat) are mentioned.
(2) Narratives and stories: The conditions and events concerning previous prophets and messengers and their communities, and the details of reward and punishment received on the basis of good and evil deeds.
(3) Knowledge of monotheism (ilm al-tawhid): The details regarding the essence of Allah Ta’ala, His names and attributes, and their implications.
Surah Al-Ikhlas, in a concise manner, comprises the third category—knowledge of monotheism (ilm al-tawhid); therefore, it has been regarded as one third of the Qur’an.
