Sayyida Asma bint Yazid (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited these verses: {لِاِیْلَافِقُرَیْشٍ ۔ اِیْلَافِہِمْرِحْلَۃَالشِّتَاءِوَالصَّیْفِ} … For the familiarity of the Quraysh, that is, for making them familiar with the journeys of winter and summer. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Quraysh! Woe to you, worship the Lord of this House, Who fed you against hunger and granted you security from fear.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The livelihood of the Quraysh depended on trade. Twice a year, their trade caravan would travel out and bring back merchandise—during winter to Yemen, which was a warm region, and during summer to Syria, which was cool. Because they were custodians of the Ka‘bah, all the Arabs respected them; thus, their caravans traveled without hindrance, and because there were two journeys, they were also protected from the hardships of the seasons. On account of these favors, Allah Ta‘ala is demanding that the Quraysh should not have committed shirk and should have worshipped Allah Ta‘ala.
