بَابُ: «أرَأَيْتَ الَّذِي يَنْهَى عَبْدًا إِذَا صَلَّى »Chapter: "Have you seen the one who forbids a servant when he prays"

عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ جُنْدُبَ بْنَ سُفْيَانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُ اشْتَكَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلَمْ يَقُمْ لَيْلَتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا فَجَاءَتْهُ امْرَأَةٌ فَقَالَتْ يَا مُحَمَّدُ لَمْ أَرَهُ قَرَبَكَ مُنْذُ لَيْلَتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثٍ (وَفِي لَفْظٍ فَقَالَتْ يَا مُحَمَّدُ مَا أَرَى شَيْطَانَكَ إِلَّا قَدْ تَرَكَكَ وَفِي لَفْظٍ مَا أَرَى صَاحِبَكَ إِلَّا قَدْ أَبْطَأَ عَلَيْكَ) فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَالضُّحَى وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا سَجَى مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَى [سورة الضحى: ١-٣]
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jundub bin Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) fell ill and was unable to stand (in prayer) for two or three nights. A woman came and said: O Muhammad! I see that you have not stood (in prayer) for two or three days; I think your devil has left you. So Allah Almighty revealed these verses: {وَالضُّحٰی وَاللَّیْلِ إِذَا سَجٰی مَا وَدَّعَکَ رَبُّکَ وَمَا قَلٰی} … By the morning brightness, and by the night when it covers with darkness, your Lord has not forsaken you, nor is He displeased.
