Hadith 8828

عَنْ جَابِرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّ الْعَشْرَ عَشْرُ الْأَضْحَى وَالْوِتْرَ يَوْمُ عَرَفَةَ وَالشَّفْعَ يَوْمُ النَّحْرِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: By the ten nights is meant the first ten nights of the month of Eid al-Adha, by the odd (witr) is meant the day of Arafat, and by the even (shaf‘) is meant the day of sacrifice.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … By "al-‘ashr" is meant the words "layāl" in {وَالْفَجْرِ۔ وَلَیالٍ عَشْرٍ۔}. {وَالْفَجْرِ وَلَیَالٍ عَشْرٍ وَّالشَّفْعِ وَالْوَتْرِ} … By the dawn, and by the ten nights, and by the even and the odd.
