Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The command of Allah, the Exalted, is: {وَالْیَوْمِالْمَوْعُوْدِ۔وَشَاھِدٍوَّمَشْہُوْدٍ۔} … By the promised day! By the witness and the witnessed! By consensus, the "promised" refers to the Day of Resurrection (Qiyamah). Friday (Jumu‘ah) is called the "witness" (shahid), because whatever deed a person performs on this day, it will bear witness for him on the Day of Resurrection. In this way, the "witnessed" (mashhud) refers to the Day of ‘Arafah, when the people performing Hajj gather and are present for Hajj.
