Benefits: … The explanation of the meaning of the above-mentioned three narrations will be clarified by the following initial eight verses of Surah Al-Munafiqun: {اِذَا جَائَ کَ الْمُنٰفِقُوْنَ قَالُوْا نَشْہَدُ اِنَّکَ لَرَسُوْلُ اللّٰہِ وَاللّٰہُ یَعْلَمُ اِنَّکَ لَرَسُوْلُہُ وَاللّٰہُ یَشْہَدُ اِنَّ الْمُنٰفِقِیْنَ لَکٰذِبُوْنَ۔ اِتَّخَذُوْٓا اَیْمَانَہُمْ جُنَّۃً فَصَدُّوْا عَنْ سَبِیْلِ اللّٰہِ اِنَّہُمْ سَاء َ مَا کَانُوْا یَعْمَلُوْنَ۔ ذٰلِکَ بِاَنَّہُمْ اٰمَنُوْا ثُمَّ کَفَرُوْا فَطُبِعَ عَلٰی قُلُوْبِہِمْ فَہُمْ لَا یَفْقَہُوْنَ۔ وَاِذَا رَاَیْتَہُمْ تُعْجِبُکَ اَجْسَامُہُمْ وَاِنْ یَّقُوْلُوْا تَسْمَعْ لِقَوْلِہِمْ کَاَنَّہُمْ خُشُبٌ مُّسَنَّدَۃٌیَحْسَبُوْنَ کُلَّ صَیْحَۃٍ عَلَیْہِمْ ہُمُ الْعَدُوُّ فَاحْذَرْہُمْ قٰتَلَہُمُ اللّٰہُ اَنّٰییُؤْفَکُوْنَ۔ وَاِذَا قِیْلَ لَہُمْ تَعَالَوْا یَسْتَغْفِرْ لَکُمْ رَسُوْلُ اللّٰہِ لَوَّوْا رُء ُوْسَہُمْ وَرَاَیْتَہُمْیَصُدُّوْنَ وَہُمْ مُّسْـتَکْبِرُوْنَ۔ سَوَاء ٌ عَلَیْہِمْ اَسْتَغْفَرْتَ لَہُمْ اَمْ لَمْ تَسْتَغْفِرْ لَہُمْ لَنْ یَّغْفِرَ اللّٰہُ لَہُمْ اِنَّ اللّٰہَ لَا یَہْدِی الْقَوْمَ الْفٰسِقِیْنَ۔ ہُمُ الَّذِیْنَیَقُوْلُوْنَ لَا تُنْفِقُوْا عَلٰی مَنْ عِنْدَ رَسُوْلِ اللّٰہِ حَتّٰییَنْفَضُّوْا وَلِلّٰہِ خَزَایِنُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ وَلٰکِنَّ الْمُنٰفِقِیْنَ لَا یَفْقَہُوْنَ۔ یَقُوْلُوْنَ لَیِنْ رَّجَعْنَآ اِلَی الْمَدِیْنَۃِ لَیُخْرِجَنَّ الْاَعَزُّ مِنْہَا الْاَذَلَّ وَلِلّٰہِ الْعِزَّۃُ وَلِرَسُوْلِہٖوَلِلْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ وَلٰکِنَّ الْمُنٰفِقِیْنَ لَا یَعْلَمُوْنَ۔}
(Surah Al-Munafiqun: 1–8)
When the hypocrites come to you, they say, “We bear witness that you are indeed the Messenger of Allah.” And Allah knows that you are indeed His Messenger, and Allah bears witness that the hypocrites are surely liars. They have taken their oaths as a shield, so they have hindered others from the way of Allah. Surely, evil is what they have been doing. That is because they believed, then disbelieved, so a seal was set upon their hearts, so they do not understand. And when you see them, their bodies please you, and if they speak, you listen to their speech. They are as if they were propped-up pieces of wood. They think every shout is against them. They are the real enemies, so beware of them. May Allah destroy them, how are they deluded? And when it is said to them, “Come, the Messenger of Allah will ask forgiveness for you,” they turn their heads aside, and you see them turning away in arrogance. It is the same for them whether you ask forgiveness for them or do not ask forgiveness for them, Allah will never forgive them. Surely, Allah does not guide the defiantly disobedient people. They are the ones who say, “Do not spend on those who are with the Messenger of Allah until they disperse.” But to Allah belong the treasures of the heavens and the earth, but the hypocrites do not understand.

The noble hadith scholars have established this principle regarding the integrity of the Companions (Sahabah): “Al-Sahabah kulluhum ‘udul.” … (All the Companions are upright). All the Companions were characterized by truthfulness and purity. In any case, from these verses, the truthfulness and veracity of especially Sayyiduna Zayd ibn Arqam radi Allahu anhu is established, that when he had no witness to prove his statement true, Allah Most High revealed eight verses of the Noble Qur’an to establish his truthfulness.
