Narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both): Once a caravan of grain arrived in Madinah while the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was delivering a sermon. The people all went towards the caravan, and only twelve (12) men remained. At that time, this verse was revealed: {وَإِذَارَأَوْاتِجَارَۃًأَوْلَہْوًاانْفَضُّواإِلَیْہَا} … And when they see a trade or amusement, they rush towards it and leave you standing.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The detailed narration is as follows:
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah radi Allahu anhu, who says: “While the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was delivering the sermon on the day of Jumu‘ah, a caravan arrived in Madinah. The Companions of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam rushed towards it, until only twelve men remained with him. The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: ‘By Him in Whose Hand is my soul! If all of you had gone and not a single one of you had remained, the valley would have flowed with fire, carrying you away.’ Then this verse was revealed: {وَإِذَارَأَوْاتِجَارَۃًأَوْلَھْواًانْفَضُّوْاإِلَیْہَاوَتَرَکُوْکَقَائِماً} (Al-Jumu‘ah: 11).” And he said: “Among the twelve who remained steadfast with the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam were Abu Bakr and Umar radi Allahu anhuma.”
The Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was delivering the sermon on the day of Jumu‘ah when a (trade) caravan arrived in Madinah. The Companions of the Messenger rushed towards it, and only twelve men remained (in the mosque). The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, upon seeing this situation, said: “By Him in Whose Hand is my soul! If all of you had gone and not a single one of you had remained, the valley would have flowed with fire, carrying you away.” Then these verses were revealed: When they see some merchandise or amusement, they rush towards it and leave you standing. (Surah Al-Jumu‘ah: 11) The narrator says: Among the twelve men who remained seated with the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam were Abu Bakr and Umar radi Allahu anhuma. (Tirmidhi: 3308, also narrated by al-Bukhari: 936, 4899, and Muslim: 3/10, but they did not mention the wording: “By Him in Whose Hand is my soul … the valley would have flowed with fire, carrying you away.” Sahihah: 3147)
