It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to test the faith of believing women through this verse: {یٰٓاَیُّھَا النَّبِیُّ اِذَا جَآءَ کَ الْمُؤْمِنٰتُ یُبَایِعْنَکَ عَلٰٓی اَنْ لَّا یُشْرِکْنَ بِاللّٰہِ شَیْئًا وَّلَا یَسْرِقْنَ وَلَا یَزْنِیْنَ وَلَا یَقْتُلْنَ اَوْلَادَھُنَّ وَلَا یَاْتِیْنَ بِبُھْتَانٍ یَّفْتَرِیْنَہٗ بَیْنَ اَیْدِیْھِنَّ وَاَرْجُلِھِنَّ وَلَا یَعْصِیْنَکَ فِیْ مَعْرُوْفٍ} (Surah Al-Mumtahina: 12) That is: O Prophet! When believing women come to you, they should pledge that they will not associate anything with Allah, will not steal, will not commit adultery, will not kill their children, will not slander anyone, and will not disobey you in any good matter. And they will not do this, and they will not do that.
