Hadith 8781

عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ وَتَجْعَلُونَ رِزْقَكُمْ قَالَ شُكْرَكُمْ أَنَّكُمْ تُكَذِّبُونَ [سورة الواقعة: ٨٢] يَقُولُونَ مُطِرْنَا بِنَوْءٍ كَذَا وَكَذَا بِنَجْمٍ كَذَا وَكَذَا
Narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: {وَتَجْعَلُونَ رِزْقَکُمْ أَ نَّکُمْ تُکَذِّبُونَ} … And instead of being grateful, you deny. And you say: We were given rain because of such-and-such star, rain fell upon us because of such-and-such star.

Benefits: … The meaning of this verse is that when it comes time to show gratitude upon receiving sustenance, people begin to attribute blessings to others besides Allah.
